Why Choose Counselling?
"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom"
Anais Nin
Counselling can help with specific problems, such as relationship difficulties, trauma, or big life changes. Sometimes it’s less clear; we can feel overwhelmed, lack direction, or lose our sense of self.
Whatever you bring can be worked with.
Finding the right counsellor is important; if your needs would be better met with a different type of therapy, I will discuss this with you.
Counselling can be challenging, bringing up difficult thoughts and feelings. You will not face this alone; I will walk alongside you and anchor you, ensuring safety and care as we navigate through your difficulties towards a stronger, more authentic you.
To feel truly heard is powerful and healing.
My Approach
I work in a Person-Centred way, which means we will work at your pace and go in the direction that feels right for you, trusting you know where the hurt is. I find this approach allows clients to discover their true feelings and needs. From here, solutions to problems can emerge.
When we feel safe, we can open up.
The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of effective therapy. I take care to build a genuine and compassionate relationship based on trust and respect. This creates a safe space, free from judgement, where you are accepted fully.
With empathy, I strive to truly understand what life is like for you. Listening carefully, I will offer observations and reflections, helping you explore what is at the root of your distress. With the right support, we can discover inner resources we never even knew we had, and make choices that enrich our lives.
As a trauma-informed therapist, I tailor sessions to focus on safety and grounding for clients who have been through trauma. This enables clients to process their past experiences safely.
Expressive Therapies
If it feels right for you; when words are not enough, I use Person-Centred Expressive Arts Therapy. This creative process is a powerful means of self-expression and self-discovery, offering the potential for change and deep healing. If this is something you would like, we can discuss it in more detail.
My aim is to facilitate the change you want to see in your life, helping you to understand and accept yourself, and embrace the potential that is in you.
